Your professor may tell you to access an item that is on Reserve. You will need to request Reserve items at the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor of the library. Be prepared to give your professor’s name and the exact title of the item you need; many titles are very similar. You can search for an item on the library website (library.hiu.edu) to discover the availability of a specific item and its call number.

When checking out a Reserve item, you will need to leave your HIU ID or another form of ID at the Circulation Desk. Reserve items may only be checked out for 4 hours & may not leave the library. Fines are steep for reserve items, accumulating $1/hour, up to $25 per item.

NOTE: The library does not host electronic reserves. If you’re looking for an eReserve for class, your reading should be found in your online course.
